J W Denney & Son - Fish Merchants (K1937). The shop, later demolished, is in front of the cottage where the Denney family live and was originally a garage used by Adnams Brewery to house a steam-powered delivery vehicle. J W Denney is the brother of Edward Denney who runs another fish shop at No 4 Trinity Street.(LM)


 

During the 1950s, the building is occupied by a barber's shop. The barber also makes and sells model boats. Name and dates required.

Remembered by Joseph Mason: " I never had my hair cut there but my father went and bought me a model yacht there. I remember it well, it was painted light blue. Of course I often had my nose pressed up against the window!"
